Even though you may not reciprocate romantic feelings toward me, I will still treat you kindly and with respect. Sure, some of that respect may be based in an extra fondness I carry toward you. That fondness, that crush, those feelings don’t ever go away. But I have no reason to be aggrieved. I would never want to force you to have romantic feelings, because that almost never works. I value and am grateful for the friendship that we have. Regardless, I will still watch over you from a distance. That is the way of the hopeless romantic.
